What gendered stereotypes roles do the characters represent?
What stereotypical attitudes or behaviours do they re-enforce/challenge?
Who has the power/status - who is dominant (why)?
How is gender constructed through CAM?
How is gender constructed through MES?
How is gender constructed through SOUND?
Men are portrayed as very relaxed characters, that don't care about what people think, they are shown drinking at work and having a laugh. They are shown in an office a place of work and are all wearing smart suits, meaning that they have high class jobs and therefore higher authority, yet neither have more authority than the other as all three are in shot and the at a medium long shot. In this shot the mean are laughing and joking around about women and the amount of lipstick there is.
Here we can see the men looking through a one way glass panel they are pouring drinks and spying on the women. This shows that women are only there to be looked at. The women are in the room testing out lipstick, stereotyping women here that they are obsessed with the way they look. As the men are overlooking the women and are the ones in darkness adding mystery and they are looking over the women adding a sense of power.
The women have been told to test out the lipstick and as it is a one way window the girls can see themselves in it, the men are then judging the women on how they look. This reinforces the point that women are judged on how they look and that they have to look good to please men.
